May I Present...
The newest member of the Foster Family.
And here all of the names he has had - in order of when they were issued and tried out. By Lucy, of course - since he has been with us, which is like 2 days. The poor cat is, like, confused.
1. Rena Cochina Thumbellina Tiny Tawny Kitten
2. Rena Thumbellina Tiny Tawny Kitten
3. Tiny Tawny Kitten
4. Bubbles
5. Bubbles Tiny Tawny Kitten
6. Stanley
7. Jose
8. Felipe
9. Rapunzel
10. Rapunzel Rapunzel, let down your hair
11. Cinderella
12. Tinkerbell
13. Murphy
14. Tinkerbell Murphy
15. Murphy Tinkerbell
16. Liver head
17. Carlos
18. Carlito
19. Hey you, cat
20. Apple
And Lucy knows he's a boy, but she keeps insisting he's going to be a girl and demanding we use "she" and "her" when we make any reference to the cat. She's like a school marm sharply correcting our grammar and rapping our knuckles pointedly with a ruler. She's a tyrant in princess underpants.
Our cat has gender identity issues. Someone call a GLBT organization.
So, what name did Lucy settle on? Nemo. Nemo Foster. And Nemo's already one of the family.
xxo YM
Nemo's awesome. I love the spot on his face. Who picked him out? You David or Lucy?
ReplyDeleteKrysta -
ReplyDeleteDavid and I had nothing to do with picking him.
Lucy was set on a white cat and "Holstein" - which was the stupid name they gave him at the ASPCA - fit the bill.
What sealed the deal was the spot on his face. Lucy has a mole/beauty mark above her lip on that side of her face. Albeit much smaller. I think she thinks Nemo is her kindred spirit. Very sweet.
But can you believe it? ...Holstein? I know. I know. I get it. The cows...whatever.
Kim
PS Nemo totally makes up for the loss of the old babysitter. Whew!
I hope you plan on fixing him/her.
ReplyDeleteWe have two, one male one female both kittens when we got them, although he is a few weeks older. He was abandoned in a shopping mall, she was from a Brooklyn litter dropped off in Rockland county.
James Beard and Julia Child. For a while we had a young tom trying to move in. When we found out he wasn't a stray he got moved out.
And if you don't know, there is an animal emergency hospital 24/7 on the east side, someplace in the 60s as I recall. This is very useful if you have a really sick animal at nights or weekends. Prices are reasonable too.
Hilarious! As always…

Congratulations on the newest Foster. That's sweet about the spot. But yeah, Holstein? O_o
ReplyDeleteAnd that first picture? I think my initial reaction was HEEEEEEEEEEEEOMIGAWDOMIGAWDOMIGAWDSQUEEEEEEEEEEE!
Ahem.
Cute! Congrats on the newest member. Personally I was hoping for Jose or Stanley.
ReplyDeleteHolstein is a great name...he looks like a Holstein cow...especially with the spots. But Nemo is good too. I don't do cats but if I did...I'd get one like that. He looks like he's got some spunk.
ReplyDeleteDavid wasn't in Vegas this past weekend by any chance having brunch at Bouchon?....if not, his doppelganger was. weird.
Pretty Kitty!!
ReplyDeleteSupercuteness! And very lucky he ended up with a boy name, apparently.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the latest addition...I was especially happy to see the photo outside the ASPCA (cheering with ASPCA shirt on)
ReplyDeleteThe sad thing is that the ASPCA receives a lot of animals, so the names can get, well, creative
at the beginning of the list, I was afraid I was going to see Tawny Kitaen...lol
NEMO is CUTE!!! OMG those places give the animals just the DUMBEST names. Our last cat was Pierre! He looked the opposite of Nemo, black with white where Nemo is black---well and a white belly. (BTW I love the word belly, but I hate my own. What is up with that?) Our new kitty is grey strips - with a polka dot belly.
ReplyDeleteoh, that is one cute kitten - yay!
ReplyDeleteour poor adopted brother & sister kittens were named, by the pound, "blackie" (eh) and "stinky" (just plain mean!).
Green with envy..that kitty is ridiculously cute. Have you been following my cat chronicles at all? I have hopes for a mother and baby..

I like the name Nemo for a cat. I have issues with people naming pets people names, like Susan, Jerry, or Mike. I think it's weird. Nemo's perfect.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to Nemo! He's a cutie. I love kitties. We had seven at one point. (I am certainly destined to be the old lady that has 100 cats and empty cat food cans all over her front porch!) But we are down to only three now.... however after seeing the Incredible Nemo, I'm having "baby pains" again! XOXOXO Cindy
