Saying Goodbye to Australia...

We're about to take off. Back home to familiar things. And cold. And a car in JFK long-term parking that will be buried under 10 inches of snow. Guess my flip flops and tan will be no help here.

It will, I admit, be good to be home. Pet the cats. Get used to sleeping with the clock totally reversed, where we'll all be awake at 2am for the next week and a half. Get our old lives back. Our old sweet lives.

For now, we say goodbye to Australia.

Goodbye to beaches...

Goodbye to uninterrupted time together...

And eating outdoors. In warm twilight. With boats cruising the river behind us.

And to grandparents. Lovely, wonderful far-away grandparents, who feel very near now...

And, lord help me, goodbye to passion fruit.

And all our unforgettable adventures here. Goodbye Australia.

Until next year...
